Diablo PS3 version suffers framerate issues.
Fast on the heels of learning about Square Enix’s plans to localize Diablo III for Japanese gamers, we’ve learned that the game suffers frame rate issues on the PlayStation 3.
The game runs at 60 FPS on the console, which puts it into a small subset of titles that do so this generation. Unfortunately, it tends to drop rather often, and quite hard. Though some claim that the drop isn’t all that bad, simply going to 30 FPS instead of the 60, others have claimed to suffer a 40 FPS drop.
That said, it should be noted that frame rate issues aren’t all that uncommon, and that the PC version had several graphical issues. It also suffered stuttering, perhaps because of the constant online requirement (it should be noted that the PS3 version does not suffer this particular issue).
It seems that these issues are only on the PS3 version so far, as no complaints seem to have been forthcoming about the Xbox 360 version. This could mean that the game is better optimized for Microsoft’s hardware, or that it’s simply too early for 360 gamers to have complained.
Will the issue be fixed in future patches? How will this affect (if it does at all) Square’s plans to localize the PS3 version?
