Mega Man Inspired Mighty No. 9 Hits $900,000 Goal Within 48 Hours
While Capcom has been cancelling Mega Man games like its a bodily function, Mega Man fans have insisted that there is still a market for the blue bomber. Series creator Keiji Inafune believed them, and began working on Mighty No. 9, which is a Mega Man title in all but its name, and asked fans to help fund the game via Kickstarter. Apparently, there are a lot of people ready to throw down some money for a Mega Man style game, because Mighty No. 9 has reached its lofty $900,000 goal with 29 days to spare.
Mighty No. 9 is a 2D sidescrolling game starring a little blue robot who has to take down 8 industrial robots who have gone rogue. Mighty No. 9 hopes to update the formula with deeper character custimization and modern HD visuals. While the project has already reached its base $900,000 goal, it still has a long way to go. If the project hits 1.2 million dollars two extra levels will be added, at 1.35 million Mac users can get in on the fun, and at $2.5 million, console gamers can play the game on Wii U, PS3, or XBox 360.
If this sounds like it would be up your alley, donate at Kickstarter.
