Will we see Skype on PlayStation 4?

During the Xbox One reveal, the company showed how Skype would be integrated with their console. This feature seemed like it would be a unique feature to the console, however Mark Gillett and the other Skype members want their platform to be as open as possible.

Said Gillett, “We’ve worked with Sony for a long time. Skype ships today on the PlayStation Portable amongst other cross-platform devices that we deliver to, and for the last few years we’ve also been shipping versions of Skype that run on Sony TVs. We’re obviously not party to their pre-release (PlayStation) hardware road map, but we’re committed to cross-platform.”

If Gillett’s wishes come true, it would make the Xbox One and the PS4 the first generation of mainstream home consoles that could allow their users to directly communicate with each other.

Do you think that he will get his wish? Will we see history made? Source: BBC (via HandyTips)
