EA’s COO Peter Moore has made an unexpected statement today in which he revealed EA’s main focus saying that “We don’t deliver offline experiences anymore”.
EA is planing to bring free-to-play to every major franchise, including Battlefield and FIFA, alongside smaller titles.
“The ability for you to be able to interact with those franchises on a free-to-play basis is going to be part-and-parcel with every major franchise we do now,” Moore said.
“We don’t ship a game at EA that is offline,” Moore said. “It just doesn’t happen. And gamers either want to be connected so their stats and achievements reflect who they are, or you want the full multiplayer experience on top of that. We don’t deliver offline experiences anymore.”
We can’t say for now if this will be a good decision money-wise, but the company has some of the best selling games of all time in their portfolio, so we can rest assured that they will bring their a-game.
So, would you like a free-to-play FIFA and/or Battlefield game?
