DICE: Developing Battlefield 4 for PS4 was not much different from PS3 development
Aleksander Grondal, the man in charge of Battlefield 4’s multiplayer mode, has revealed that developing the game on PlayStation 4 wasn’t much different than making it for the PlayStation 3.
“For us, it’s not that much of a difference really. We have a scalable engine – it was already ‘next-gen ready,’ if you will, when we shipped Battlefield 3,” said Grondal
“We do parallel development for all platforms, so, for us, [moving on to PS4] is not really that big of a change.’
We weren’t expecting for PlayStation 4 to be much harder to develop on, as Sony has confirmed that the new console will help every developer, not make their life even harder. It’s nice to see that some companies were prepared for next-gen, so let the great games flow!
