According to iMore, and corroborated by Tech Crunch, AllThingsD and 9to5Mac, Apple is apparently working on a gold-toned iPhone 5S, which had been thrown around as a rumor for a few weeks.
The iPhone of course has been typically offered in only black and white versions (outside of a special edition red edition), but sources are telling the publication that this is the real deal.
No doubt many consumers dress up their iPhones in after-market color changes, such as gold, as well as gold cases, as we’ve all seen throughout the years, so this could be Apple’s way of branching into that market of those who want a new look for their devices.
According to a source, who spoke with AllThingsD, the color would be an “elegant” gold tone, which is more of a lighter tone and not your typical deep gold.
Of course, we’ll all find out in the coming weeks if this turns out to be for real, as Apple has a planned press conference scheduled for Sep. 10, where they are expected to announce the newest iPhone.
