Wizards of the Coast has teamed up with Playdek in order to bring the award-winning Dungeons and Dragons: Lords of Waterdeep to iPad. This will mark the series debut on Apple’s iPad.

For those unaware of Playdek, they have developed a variety of games. These include an “Insane” card game called Fluxx, as well as the popular and intricate strategy board game Agricola. These games hae proven Playdek’s ability to bring physical strategy games to mobile platforms.

As for the game itself, Lords of Waterdeep is a board game which casts 2-5 players in the role of the masked lords who control the greatest city in the Forgotten Realms from the shadows. The players then recruit adventurers to undergo quests, thus extending their influence over the city. They can also play intrigue cards which may help or hinder their opponents.

A Wizards of the Coast representative had this to say regarding Playdek, “Their experience shipping titles like Ascension and Agricola prove they know how to bring board games to life on the tablet. From a solid tutorial experience to intuitive design for asynchronous and pass-and-play gameplay to creating a fun achievements system, their passion for the original game will mean a faithful rendition of Lords of Waterdeep, optimized for tablet play.”

How will this game turn out? Will Playdek be able to bring the same charm to this game that graces their previous titles?
