Nintendo president Satoru Iwata: Wii U pricing not an issue

by on August 12, 2013

Wii U sales 160,000 units in 3 months.
We all know that Nintendo has a really bad financial year, and one of the main reason is the failure of Nintendo’s Wii U console. Why? There were several hypothesis but nothing confirmed.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata insisted in a interview with CVG that the lack of software, and not the pricing, is dragging the console down.

“The basic version should have sold a lot, but the fact of the matter is that people are buying more of the premium version. So the issue is not there.” he said.

“I understand that the real issue is the lack of software, and the only solution is to provide the mass-market with a number of quality software titles.” Iwata added.

He may be right, but over the past two months a lot of big developers declared they don’t have any future plans to develop any new game for Nintendo’s Wii U. So with Wii U in a financial hole and nobody wanting to do anything about it, where will this lead to?

We sure hope that Nintendo has something in their sleeves to save Wii U from the imminent doom.
