Total War: Rome iI players receive early access to Total war: Arena.

Today, Creative Assembly announced that Total War: Rome II players will receive early access to a beta of the upcoming free-to-play Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game, Total War: Arena.

In addition to this, players who have purchased Total War: Rome II will receive “Exclusive in-game Legion Armory bonuses”, as well as $15 worth of in-game currency for the game. The players will also receive “Legion” status for the game, although the developer did not mention what benefits this status would convey to players.

For those unaware, Total War: Arena will be Creative Assembly’s very first free-to-play game, and was announced during this year’s GDC in March. No release date for Arena (or the  beta) has been announced.

How will the company’s attempt at a MOBA game stack up to the more popular games, such as Defense of the Ancients and League of Legends?
