Free The Games Fund by Ouya gives $1 million to Kickstarters

Ever since launching the Ouya has not received impressive reviews at all. People purchasing the console claim they can already play the games on their mobile devices. It’s also been shown that only a small percentage of Ouya owners have even purchased a game for the console. But either out of generosity or in a attempt to stay in the limelight, the people at Ouya are giving out free money.

Game developers wanting to raise funds for the game on Kickstarter can get a chance at a portion of one million dollars if they meet certain guidelines. Developers must contact Ouya before publishing to Kickstarter and their game must be exclusive to the Ouya console for 6 months. You also need to launch the Kickstarter after today, but it needs to end before August 10th of next year (2014). Those who qualify will have their total amount raised matched by the fund, up to a total amount of $250,000 until the one million dollars is depleted. The campaign that gains the most money will get an additional $100,000.

It seems like this is a good opportunity for developers, Ouya is not asking for complete control or ownership of the game. This may even help the Ouya get back on track to where it was meant to be when we all started hyping it.
