Bethesda: Wii U not “on our radar”
This year is getting far worse than expected for Nintendo’s Wii U. After the console had the fewest sales in the history of gaming, a lot of developer seem to lost interest in the console.
Today, Bethesda announced that they are not developing any games for Wii U and the console is not included in the company’s near-term focus.
Vicepresident of PR and marketing Pete Hines stated the following:
“None of the game’s we’ve announced are being developed for the Wii U, so it’s guaranteed that none of those games are coming to Wii U,” Hines said in reference to The Elder Scrolls Online, Wolfenstein: The New Order and The Evil Within.
“Will any future ones come out? I can’t say for sure, in our near-term focus it’s not on our radar.”
“It’s largely a hardware thing. [Our mantra is to] make the games that we want to make, on whatever platforms will support them as developed.”
This is another sad day for Nintendo and their console. Many people think that the insuccessof the console is due to the lack of games and with no big developer taking an interest to make any new game for Wii U, where the console will get to? Probably nowhere.
It’s time for Nintendo to step up and drag their console out from the dust.
