The next Everquest has been announced at SOE Live in Las Vegas
EverQuest Next is still set in Norrath, but now takes a page from Minecraft. The world is formed out of voxels that can be destroyed and reshaped as wanted. These changes will also be permanent, so paths can be destroyed to hinder other questers or to take out an enemy group.
However, the developers will make some parts of the world indestructible to players, although mobs will still be able to take them out. Devs can also start earthquakes to close caverns or open new ones, each with new content and possible items.
The quest system will also be different then past titles. Gone are exclamation marks, here are organic quests that you can help as you go around to world and long public quests called Rallying Calls.
Classes have also gotten a rehaul. Each player can be whatever class they want and change at any time, and combat will feature four weapon moves and four skills.
Meanwhile, Next Landscape will let creative players claim land to build unique designs, that can be sold on the Player Studio to others.
When the games release, it will be free to play.
