GTA V rated 18+ by Australian Classification Board
Grand Theft Auto V has been given the rating of 18+ by the ACB (Australian Classification Board). For those unaware, this is essentially the same rating that those in the US would call Adult Only.
The reasons for this rating, according to the ACB’s site, are the game’s themes, violence, language, drug use, nudity, and sex. They have cited the game’s themes, violence, language, nudity, and sex as being a “Strong impact” on the game’s rating, while drug use had a “high impact” on their decision.
For those unsure what this means, the ACB utilizes a scale of very mild impact, mild impact, moderate impact, strong impact, and high impact for each element of the game. This means that GTA V’s biggest concern (or at least what the ACB felt was the biggest concern) is the drug usage.
Will this hurt GTA V’s sales in the region? Or will it be popular despite the rating?
