Analysts are expecting Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V to ship 18-20 million copies in its first year. Cowen & Co. analyst Doug Creutz estimates GTAV’s full-year sales to be at 18 million, although he admitted that it remains a “guessing game” where the title will come in between 15 to 25 million units sold.
Another analyst, this time Colin Sebastian of Baird expects Take-Two to ship 13 million units in GTAV’s launch window, with full-year sales at around 20 million units.
If these numbers ring true, then both Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 will have another foe to contend with when it comes to sales this holiday season.
Grand Theft Auto V is set for release on September 17 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Do you think GTAV has a chance at hitting these numbers or are these analysts over-estimating the game’s reach?
