Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have today confirmed that Batman: Arkham Origins will have a multiplayer mode, when the game ships on Oct. 25. However, the online multiplayer will only be available on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game. According to the publisher, the Wii U version won’t have it at this time, basically due to a lack of a decent sized online community.
In a statement, a Warner Bros. rep said, “MP will be available for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The team is focusing development efforts on platforms with the largest MP audience.”
Sorry Wii U fans.
The online mode will allow players to hunt as either Batman or Robin against opponents such as the Super-Villain Elite, as well as The Joker and Bane.
Batman: Arkham Origins is a prequel to Arkham Asylum and Arkham City and takes place before the rise of Gotham City’s notorious criminals. The handheld version of the game, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, will hit the PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS system as well.
