Aeria Games publishes F.E.A.R. Online.

F.E.A.R., a game series that is widely known for the psychological horror of its single-player campaign, is getting a free-to-play online shooter, Aeria Games reveals.

The announcement has already had several gamers speculating. After all, one typical problem with attempting to do multiplayer horror is that it is much harder to be scared when you know that somebody has you covered.

The upcoming game, being developed by Inplay Interactive, will feature both pure online multiplayer against the (somewhat) evil things from the series and several co-op scenarios that will run parallel to the events depicted in F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, which will give players a fresh insight into the struggle against Alma.

If interested, you can sign up at the game’s official site.

Will Aeria Games be able to avoid the pitfalls of multiplayer horror? Or will F.E.A.R. Online wind up being a lackluster online multiplayer shooter?

Thanks, Kotaku.
