When it was announced that DICE were making a new Star Wars: Battlefront game, fans got very excited. Now the anticipation can build as DICE are “well into development” on the game.
The comments came from Frank Gibeau, EA’s Games Label president, at their financial event yesterday. He said, “We showed 22 seconds of where we’re going with it and the fan response was very positive.” He added, “The DICE team is well into development on that product already, so we feel very bullish about our shooter rotation over the next several years.”
It was also confirmed that the game had a third person component to it, hopefully meaning it will share the first-person/third-person changes that were possible in the previous games.
Although only a teaser trailer has been shown so far, and no release date has been announced, the game is set to look stunning. It uses the Frostbite 3 engine that powers Battlefield 4, and the promise of a cross between the tactical element of the Battlefield games and the Star Wars universe looks set to be a winning combination.
