Microsoft bundles 12 month Gold membership with Office 365 subscription
Today, Microsoft unveiled a new offer designed to tempt consumers to subscribe to Office 365.
This offer lasts until September 28, and during this time, anybody who purchases either a year-long Office 365 Home Premium or 4-year Office 365 University subscription will get 12 months of Xbox Live Gold for free. Unfortunately the offer is not currently available in the United States, but is available in most of Europe, Asia, and Australia.
For those unaware, Office 365 includes applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and is Microsoft’s attempt to focus on paid subscriptions rather than the traditional method. This seems like a bit of a risk to take, though there are early signs of progress.
Microsoft has been utilizing a series of ads aimed at passengers in railway stations and airports in order to gain interest in this new version. They’ve also utilized a magazine campaign which included a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Will the temptation of 12 months of Xbox Gold be enough to lure in gamers?
