Frontiers, the game that promises to put exploration at the heart of the game, has managed to raise more than treble it’s Kickstarter goal.

The game from Lars Simkins managed to raise $157,381 compared to it’s original $50,000 goal. With this enormous success, Simkins is now offering to listen to input from backers about extra features, with the top three suggestions making it into the game. Simkins has described the vision for it to be, “that first person exploration/survival game we’ve all been dreaming about.”

Simkins had originallly attempted to raise the money for the game on Indiegogo but had to cancel that attempt when it became clear it wouldn’t reach it’s goal of $80,000, with the Kickstarter effort beginning last month.

The game is being developed for PC, Mac and Linux, with an expected release date of January 2014.
