Ubisoft CEO: It’s good that PS4 and Xbox One are fighting, starting next year not every game will be cross-generation

Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, has been talking about the healthy competition between PS4 and Xbox One in an interview with MCV.

Guillemot said, “What I like very much is that those guys are competing strongly. It’s cool that there’s a big fight. Normally they sell more machines when they fight against each other, and that’s good for a third party publisher like Ubisoft.” Guillemot seems to favour this kind of competition, also noting that the rise of mobile gaming can only be a good thing for the AAA consoles.

He also stated that not all future Ubisoft games will be cross generation, “Starting next year, not all of the games will be multiformat. You will have to use the capacity of the machine, and to do that you will have to do specific next-gen versions.” This means that while Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be across both generations at once, future games won’t be, though he declined to mention any specific franchises.
