League of Legends now recognized by U.S. Government as a “sport,” pro players now eligible for visas
In what could be considered a major step for eSports and gaming, the U.S. Government now classifies “League of Legends” as a “sport,” and what’s more, pro players are eligible for visas now, too.
This was revealed by eSports commentator Leigh Smith over on Twitter where he revealed the following:
Another announcement you all maybe missed. The US Governement recognises the #LCS as a Sport on par with NBA,NFL,NHL so pro’s get visas now

Hopefully, this is but a small step and we’ll see the sport gain more ground with sports organizations and governments worldwide in the coming months.
While I admit, I’m not a big eSports fan, any news where gaming is legitimized as something more than a “game for kids” is fine in my book.
