GameStop stops pre-orders for the PlayStation 4 as “Unlimited” supply runs dry
- GameStop runs out of PS4 standard edition pre-orders.
It was reported on PlayStation Lifestyle yesterday that GameStop, who had been given the go-ahead from Sony to “Open the floodgates” for “Unlimited PS4 pre-orders”, has run out of the console.
To be more specific, they have run out of the standard console. Checking the GameStop website will reveal that the standard console is “Out of stock”, not allowing anybody to pre-order it.
The more expensive bundles are indeed still available (and limited to one per household), but if you want to try to pre-order the standard version from a GameStop, now your only shot is to swing by your local store and hope that they have not yet hit their quota.
The PS4 has been doing quite well, as the console’s launch day edition on Amazon sold out in less than a day, successfully becoming the best selling console of the year.
Will GameStop restock the pre-orders? Or will those interested have to go to their local stores, or even elsewhere for the console?
