World of Warships trailer angers Koreans.
Our friends at Kotaku today have let us know that the E3 trailer for the upcoming World of Warships has angered several Koreans.
What did the game’s trailer do that invited such anger? Well, in the trailer, you can clearly see the Japanese Rising Sun flag, which was flown during World War II. Due to the events of the war, the sight of the flag still angers many in South Korea and other parts of Asia.
They were so upset that they even started a petition for the flag’s removal. This petition gained 40,000 signatures, with many who signed comparing the Rising Sun with the Nazi’s swastika, which has been removed from several games in the past.
Will the Rising Sun flag be removed from World of Warships, or will the developers of the game ignore the petition? If the latter, what sort of consequences may the game end up facing in regards to the Asian community?
