State of Decay co-op mode not in development, multiplayer to be a key feature in future titles
Undeadlabs’ open-world zombie survival game State of Decay was originally going to have co-op multiplayer, but it was cut to avoid delaying the launch. It won’t make a return in a future update, according to the developer.
Executive Producer Jeff Strain wrote on the forums that a co-op mode would take up to nine months to implement and it would halt upcoming title updates and DLC.
For future games of the series, Strain wrote, “Multiplayer will be the absolute heart of,” and that the eventual MMO is still coming.
