MCV UK informed us today that Appeal S.A. has successfully purchased the rights to the Outcast IP from Atari Europe.

For those unaware, Appeal created the original 1999 PC game, Outcast, though Atari acted as publisher for the title. With a revival of the franchise planned, Appeal felt that it was time to attempt to purchase the IP from the publisher. They were successful, although the exact terms of the deal have yet to be made public.

The studio founders, Yann Robert, Yves Grolet, and Frank Sauer wish to bring the franchise back. For those who do not know, the sci-fi action game placed you in the shoes of an ex-Navy SEAL that had to escort a team of scientists to an alternate dimension. The reason? To prevent a US probe from creating a black hole.

Unfortunately, other members of the development team were not mentioned in the press release.

Will Outcast be revived successfully?
