New poll reveals average UK gamer, they’re not who you might expect

Ask many people what their idea of a typical gamer is and not many will say a married 35 year old who earns £23,000 a year.

According to a new poll by Pixwoo that is the average attributes of a UK gamer. Although the poll was limited to only 2,000 people it provided some interesting results. On average a gamer will play for two hours a day, five days a week. They will stay up until 11pm to play – whether they’re male or female – and will own two different consoles and 18 games, which will take them roughly a month each to complete.

When it comes to multiplayer a third will play locally, a quarter online and a fifth will regularly go online with friends made in the gaming community. On average they will have made five friends online, and almost 30% of them have met up face-to-face with a friend made this way.

While the results may be a little surprising, ask yourself why Sony and Microsoft always have young professionals playing games and using their new features in their ads. Just check out the recent advert for The PlayRoom and you’ll understand.

Thanks CVG
