Warrior’s Lair on PS3 and Vita officially killed off by Sony

Sony have confirmed that Warrior’s Lair, the game that showed off cross-play between PS3 and Vita, has been cancelled.

IGN report that Sony said, “Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm that Warrior’s Lair for PS Vita is no longer in development.” They added to those who had already ordered the game, “We apologize to those who pre-ordered the title and ask that they contact their retailer directly to cancel their pre-sale.”

The game had long been rumoured to be in trouble. Originally titled Ruin, it was being developed by Idol Minds until their closure. Sony San Diego were then supposed to take over the development and complete the game early last year. With no appearance at E3 in 2012 or this year it seemed the writing was on the wall.

Vita fans still have plenty to cheer about though with Sony saying, “The line-up of PS Vita first-party and third-party content remains strong with more than 85 titles scheduled to launch for the system by the end of 2013 including Killzone: Mercenary, Tearaway, Doki Doki Universe, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, Flower, The Walking Dead, and more.”
