Ubisoft have been speaking about their passion for ‘second-screen’ gaming with four upcoming titles all incorporating the feature.
At E3 the company showed off Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, The Crew and The Division, each of which contained a strong offline tablet and smartphone app. GamesIndustry quotes Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot as having strong support for the idea saying, “I’m convinced it’s the future.” He seems particularly impressed with the idea that it includes all gamer abilities and allows gameplay to continue away from the console.
Most Ubisoft games are built from several studios and Ubisoft Quebec are the ones making the apps for ACIV, Watch Dogs and The Division. In the same article, Ubisoft MD Nicolas Rioux said, “The vision of the studio is to be a leader in the creation of mobile, online, and connected universe.”
He also echoed Guillmot’s words by saying, “The way we see it, it really gives the players the choice and opportunity to have a great experience when you want, where you want, at the time you want, on the device you want.”
With the next-generation allowing connectivity between devices as never seen before Ubisoft seem determined to make sure that they are leading the way.
