Sony have announced that The PlayRoom, the augmented reality game designed to show off the interaction between the Dualshock, camera and PS4, will come pre-loaded on the console, according to the official PlayStation website.
The game allows you to interact with Asobi, a robot helper who ‘appears’ in your room, who can react to your actions and even unleash an army of tiny robots into your Dualshock. By using the touchpad you can then ‘flick’ these little helpers out and interact with them too.
The E3 trailer showed lots of promising things, like the motion tracking on the controller and the ability to draw something on your smartphone, tablet or Vita and then send that to the PS4 to create another 3D object for the robots to play with.
The downside? You’ll require a PlayStation camera to play it and that won’t come bundled with the console. Reports have suggested that it was oringinally planned to but Sony abandoned this idea so that they could undercut the Xbox One. Despite this the game still looks like a great way to show off the interaction that will become common place on the next-gen.
