Ubisoft have confirmed that they have a, “10 year plan” for Watch Dogs, their ambitious new game.
In an interview in The Guardian Ubisoft Montreal senior producer, Dominic Guay, was responding to a question about Bungie’s plans to have a decade long plan for Halo. Guay said, “Honestly that’s what we’re doing too. Here’s the way we think about it: even if we change our minds mid-course or after shipping Watch Dogs and say ‘scratch that, we’ll do something else’, the planning helps to make a strong core.”
Guay was also talking about the smartphone app that will be accompanying the game. With Watch Dogs featuring a heavy emphasis on technology it seems like the developers are anxious to let that carry through to real life. “We’re trying to go beyond just exposing stats,” he said while also confirming, “First of all, you’ll be able to play directly against other players on console. I can be on a bus in Montreal and you can be in your living room in the UK, and I can play directly with you.”
Ubisoft Montreal seem to have spent a lot of time thinking all the possibilities through, and with Watch Dogs being a launch title on PS4 and Xbox One, it will be an exciting way to usher in the next-gen.
