The timing of former Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Business President Don Mattrick’s departure from the company is just before what several reports say will be a “massive” reorganization this month. In a profile of Mattrick, Fast Company reports the new CEO at Zynga left because the upcoming restructuring would not give him a bigger role at Microsoft.
Microsoft’s reorganization would place Mattrick in charge of the Xbox One hardware decision, Fast Company reports. The report also suggests that Microsoft was unaware of his departure.
Reports began Monday that Mattrick would leave Microsoft to join Zynga in a top role. Not long after, Zynga announced him as the new CEO, starting July 8.
