Total War modder sets out to create his own game
In a report on Kotaku yesterday, it was brought to our attention that Darthmod, widely considered to be one of the world’s top modders, has decided to create his own game.
For those unaware of who he is, Darthmod worked on many Total War mods, and, before he left the community last year, occupied a place that was just behind the developers of the game.
Darthmod’s creations are credited with having “transformed the flagship strategy series from “great games with whiffy AI” to “amazing games oh God where is my life going.”
The game Darthmod, whose real name is Nick Thomadis, is creating will be called Ultimate General: Gettysburg. this real-time strategy game is currently in development for PC and tablets, and Mr. Thomadis plans to address several things that have been bugging him about commercial strategy games.
These things include (among other things) an independent unit AI, allowing the unit to fight and otherwise react if you’re busy with other things, and the removal of a tendency to rely on a “rock paper scissors” unit design.
Will Mr. Thomadis be successful in fixing these things that have bugged him?
