Microsoft’s next “free” game for Xbox Live Gold subscribers is 2009 tower defense game Defense Grid: The Awakening.
Users who pay the $60 a year for Xbox Live Gold memberships will be able to play the game for free as part of the new Free With Gold feature.
When Microsoft announced the new Xbox Live feature it said Halo 3 and Assassin’s Creed 2 would be coming, two examples that led users to be upset with the second free game announcement when compared to the newer games available on Sony’s similar service with PlayStation Plus. “I don’t know what titled will be released when,” Xbox Live Director of Programming Lary Hryb said on Twitter, “but I’ll let you know what they are when I find out.”
The first game available on the service was Fable 3.
Defense Grid: The Awakening is normally priced at $10 (800 Microsoft points).
