A new Indiegogo 8-bit Action/Exploration/Platformer project called Odallus: The Last Call has cropped up today.

Odallus is created by the same people that brought us Oniken, and takes cues from classic releases like Demon’s Crest, Ghosts ‘n Goblins, and yes, even Castlevania.

One of these cues is the exploration based mechanic. Though the game will be broken up into stages, the developers insist that, “there is no one-way-only in Odallus and levels have many paths, including to other levels.”

The game’s plot is simple enough. As the crowdfunding page says, “In search for the Ultimate Power, a Dark Lord and his wretched army are ravaging a once peaceful land, destroying villages and leaving no good soul alive. To put a stop to this carnage, the warrior named Haggis must wield again his already bloodstained blade and chase down the Dark Lord.”

Will Haggis be successful in his quest? Or will the Dark Lord destroy all that is good?
