Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon sells over 500,000 in two months, boosts sales of main game


Far Cry 3’s 80s-inspired spin-off Blood Dragon has sold over 500,000 copies in its first two months on sale, and has boosted sales of the main game.

Speaking to GamesIndustry International, via Eurogamer, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said Blood Dragon helped the sales of the original game, and that other “brand extensions” could now be possible.

The bigger games get, the more smaller experiences we can have in them, whether that means DLC or spin-offs. If it’s paying off, we could see companies other than Ubisoft try utilizing the big, triple-A game engines for smaller games.
