The Xbox 360 has become this generation’s most successful home console in the UK, according to GfK Chart-Track.
The stat tracker says that within a matter of days, the 360 will overtake the Nintendo Wii in terms of units sold. With over 8.4 million consoles sold within this generation, Microsoft have a solid base on which to launch the Xbox One later this year. Whilst it has had a controversial month, with many fans less than impressed at their user policies, it marks an important milestone for Microsoft.
Harvey Eagle, director of Xbox, told MCV, “As you saw at E3 earlier this month, we announced a new Xbox 360 form factor and we are committed to ensuring Xbox 360 remains the best place to play games, connect with friends and enjoy your entertainment.”
The console has not beaten the record for most successful home console of all time in the UK though. That honour still belongs to the PS2 which sold more than 10 million units.
