According to Nintendo, via a post on Miiverse, the character limit for both the Wii U and online versions has been increased from 100 to 200 characters.

This was increased, apparently, due to “popular demand.”

In addition, filtering has been updated, so that when filtering for popular posts, older posts can now be seen.  Previously, when filtering, only the most recent ones could be seen.
