State of Decay has become the second game in two days to be refused classification by the Australian censors.
After the news yesterday that Saints Row IV was going to be banned, it has since emerged that the same thing has happened to the fastest-selling original Xbox Live game, reports MCV.
Undead Labs, the game’s developers, confirmed in a forum post that, “We’ve run afoul of certain prohibitions regarding the depiction of drug use.” They went on to say, “We’re working with Microsoft to come up with options, including changing names of certain medications in the game to comply with ratings requirements.”
The Australian Classification Board only introduced it’s new classification system in January, in an attempt to create an upper boundary for 18+ rated video games. Today also saw the release of the reasoning behing it banning Saints Row IV, with the board less than happy at some of the weaponary on offer – apparently it was the “Alien Anal Probe” that caused the problem.
