The Order: 1886 to have “shooting mechanics,” and is a “linear story-based” game

One of the biggest surprise PS4 reveals at Sony’s E3 press conference could very well be Ready at Dawn’s The Order: 1886.

Ready at Dawn is known for developing two excellent handheld God of War games. So naturally, Sony fans can’t be blamed if they’re a bit excited to see what the studio has to offer for next-gen consoles.

Speaking of which, the studio just did an interview over at the Official U.S. PlayStation Blog. While the details shared aren’t exactly surprising, we do know that the game will have shooting mechanics — as if the trailer wasn’t indicative enough — and is a “linear story-based” game.

PlayStation.Blog: So, exactly what kind of game is The Order: 1886?
Ru Weerasuriya: The Order is a third person action adventure with shooting mechanics. It’s very much story-based – it’s a linear story-based game. We’re trying to tell a story. It’s what we call a filmic experience.

Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of new info that reveals what the game’s about. But with RAD and Sony Santa Monica at development duties, expectations for this one are sure to be higher than usual.
