A recent PlayStation 3 firmware update prevented several users from using their console. Sony will be issuing another update to fix affected consoles June 27.
PS3 firmware v4.45 was deployed June 18 to add notification options for PlayStation Network Trophies and to “improve system stability.” Instead, it caused “bricked” consoles, unable to start up correctly.
Sony quickly pulled the update and will be issuing another update to fix the bug on June 27.
“We have identified the issue related to the PlayStation 3 software update (version 4.45) that impacted a small number of PS3 systems earlier this week,” wrote Digital Platform Community Manager Morgan Haro on the PlayStation forums today.
