Amazon has revealed that last week’s console pre-orders was record breaking for the company.
In a press release the company said that at it’s peak there were more 2,500 pre-orders per minute for next-gen consoles, though it didn’t specify the individual numbers for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
It also said that console orders for the E3 week were up more than 4,000% on last year, though it’s hardly surprising given the excitement that surrounded this years event. Day one pre-orders were also almost twice that of sales of all video games on Black Friday, the most popular day for online retail, in 2012.
With Microsoft’s announcement that they were retreating over their position over DRM it will be interesting to see if the numbers comparing the two next-gen consoles are going to be released with the rumors suggesting that PS4 has a sizable lead over the Xbox One.
