New Super Luigi U arrives on the eShop today

Super Luigi U

Today is the day when Luigi gets to star in his own platformer as Nintendo has released New Super Luigi U – the downloadable update for New Super Mario Bros. U (required to play).

The DLC is far from just a small update, as the entire NSMBU game will get a makeover from top to bottom and lets Luigi take center stage.  82 courses have been updated to take advantage of the DLC, while Luigi himself has the ability to jump higher and stay in the air longer.  You’ll also get to play as Nabbit for the first time as well.

According to Nintendo, a standalone, boxed copy, which won’t require New Super Mario Bros. U, will be released on Aug. 25 for $29.99.

This week’s eShop update also adds Game & Wario (6/23) for the Wii U, as well as Project X Zone (6/25) and LEGO Legends of Chima: Laval’s Journey (6/25), both for the 3DS.

In addition, Little Inferno gets discounted to $4.99 until 6/26, while Super Little Acorns 3D Turbo also gets discounted to $3.99.

The Virtual Console for the Wii U gets Mario Bros. and Wrecking Crew, while the 3DS’ Virtual Console gets a boatload of games, including: Mega Man VI, Sonic Blast, Tails Adventure, Defenders of Oasis, BUGS vs. TANKS!, Mario & Sonic at the 2012 London Olympics and a few others.
