Phil Fish told Polygon in a interview that Fez 2 will skip Microsoft’s consoles. Why? Due to the high expense and difficulties of patching Fez on XBL Arcade.
“With Microsoft they’ve made it painfully clear they don’t want my ilk on their platform,” he said. “I can’t even self-publish there. Whereas on PS4, I can. It’s that simple. Microsoft won’t let me develop for their console. But Sony will.” he said.
It’s true that Microsoft made life pretty hard for indie developers, and they kinda deserve to get this treatment. Maybe they will reconsider about self-publishing as they have reconsidered with the Xbox One DRM.
