Deep Down and Dragon’s Dogma are completely unrelated according to Capcom

Capcom have confirmed that Deep Down, the new game shown off at the PlayStation 4 reveal in February, has no relation to the current franchise Dragon’s Dogma.

Christian Svensson, Capcom’s senior vice president, revealed this on the Capcom Unity forums in response to questions from fans as to whether Deep Down and Dragon’s Dogma were set in the same universe.

At the time of the reveal it was noted by many commentators that the games seem to share many similarities. It was also thought at one point that Deep Down may just be a working title for the game but it seems like it will be a standalone franchise in it’s own right.

Capcom released an enhanced version of Dragon’s Dogma, called Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, in April. The original game was generally well received with a Metacritic score of 76% on Xbox and 79% on PlayStation 3. The company are also expected to be working on a full sequel to the game.

Thanks Gematsu!
