Shown off as one of Microsoft’s exclusives at its E3 press conference, Crytek’s Ryse is now confirmed to be a launch title for the Xbox One.

While the game itself was revealed a few years ago as an Xbox 360 Kinect exclusive, it has now resurfaced with a new coat of paint, and actual button prompts, which no doubt surprised a few people at the event.

In an exclusive interview with GotGame, Crytek GM Nick Button-Brown mentions that the reason they wanted to create Ryse was for an “in your face” and “personal” combat experience.

Why we wanted to do this game was because we wanted to get that brutal, up close and personal, really in your face combat

Not to be a skeptic, but wouldn’t it be hard to have “up close and personal” combat with one button press to get rid of enemies? Of course. since we’re a few months away from release, some things might change still. So let’s reserve full judgment until then.

What do you think of Ryse from what you’ve seen of it? Is it Microsoft’s answer to Sony’s God of War franchise?
