Earlier today, Square Enix’s Yoshinori Kitase told RPG Site that if the upcoming Final Fantasy X HD remake does well, it could very well pave the road for HD remakes of other games, including the much loved Final Fantasy XII.

When asked directly if there would be other HD remakes, Kitase responded, “We’ll have to wait and see if these remasters are going to be successful, first. If they do well, I think this will pave the way for more of the previous games to remade in an HD sort of quality.”

Kitase was also asked what game he would most like to see a HD remake of, to which he replied, “”I mean, if we HAD to single out one of the vast number of Final Fantasy titles which we could make in HD, it would have to be Final Fantasy XII.” He went on to add, “I was not involved in the project, though, so we can’t really comment on that.”

Could Final Fantasy X HD, if successful, also cause Square to finally do as many fans have been begging for years: Remake Final Fantasy VII with HD graphics? Could it even spawn a 3D and HD version of Final Fantasy VI and other titles?
