Sony’s announced it will require users to pay $49.99 a year to play multiplayer games on PlayStation 4. According to Sony UK head Fergal Gara, it was a decision Sony had to “agonise over for a very long time,” he told the Official PlayStation Magazine UK.
Gara said the pay-wall allows Sony to introduce more network features and to improve the PlayStation Network infrastructure.
A PlayStation Plus membership gives users access to free games every month, and includes access to betas.
