After being knocked down at E3 2013 but its competitors, Microsoft still wants to get their head up the crowd and try to “educate” us that digital distribution is the way to go. Well, it’s not! Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s Xbox chief marketing officer, claimed that “This is a big change, consumers don’t always love change, and there’s a lot of education we have to provide to make sure that people understand.”
Apparently, gamers need to be educated in order to understand what big favor Microsoft is doing to them. Since Xbox One’s reveal, a lot hate has risen upon Microsoft’s next-gen console, and from my point of view this reaction is justified.
Looking at a few big retailers, Sony’s PlayStation 4 managed to get in the top, showing that DRM and always-online policies are the wrong way to do it. Good job, Microsoft!
