Eiji Aonuma states that it is imperative to break new ground with future Zelda games
Zelda needs to change… but not TOO much, says Eiji Aonuma.
In an interview with Engadget earlier today, Legend of Zelda director Eiji Aonuma spoke of Nintendo’s need to evolve.
When asked how long Nintendo could keep pulling aces out of their sleeves in order to make gamers return for more, Mr. Aonuma, “”If we don’t change we might die. We need to evolve. Things need to change. Things need to grow.”
Mr. Aonuma also stated (when asked about the possibility of other Zelda HD remakes) that, “If I continue making remakes, I feel like I won’t grow.”
So should they change Zelda completely? Mr. Aonuma says no. “If we change it too much, I’m also concerned people will say, ‘Okay, is it no longer Zelda if we don’t have this formula?'”
Will Mr. Aonuma and his team find a good balance for future Zelda games? And will Wind Waker HD prove to be the valuable training tool that his team is hoping that it wll be?
