Nintendo optimistic about the Wii U’s chances against Xbox One and PlayStation 4
A report on GameSpot today showed that Nintendo is confident in their system, despite Sony’s excellent press conference yesterday and the Wii U’s thus far struggling sales.
When a reporter asked Charlie Scibetta, Nintendo’s Senior Communications Director, if Nintendo believes it will see a difficult holiday season with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 coming out, he answered no.
Said Mr. Scibetta, “If you’re a consumer going in and you have these options; we know what the price points are now from the competitors, we know what the games are from the competitors; and we know now what the Wii U is going to offer. We feel good about where we stack up. It’s the software that’s going to motivate them.”
To support his claims, Scibetta pointed out that the 3DS suffered a similar slow start, however sales kicked off when key titles hit the market. He expressed confidence that the same would be true with their newest console.
Is Nintendo’s confidence warranted? Or will the Wii U continue to suffer slow sales?
